Summer is upon us and with it comes lots of visitors and FISHING. In this edition of House Calls , you will hear about Bartlett’s participation with the Juneau Community Patient Navigator program to improve the lives of community members and reduce their need for emergency services. You will also learn about two recent additions to Bartlett’s technology squad. One does not have a name yet but he, the manikin, is a high-tech teaching aid to improve our emergency capabilities. The second does have a name. Sterile Meryl is a robotic ultraviolet light machine that can move from room to room and help us kill the germs that may be left after cleaning. Meryl’s priority is the operating rooms, but she will move throughout the hospital helping us keep our very low infection rate as low as possible. You will meet some more of the Bartlett family, including Dr. Mimi Benjamin, the head of our hospitalist program. Last fall she was recognized by the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home for excellence in health care leadership—a well-deserved award. I hope you enjoy this edition of House Calls !
