Ah, summertime! In Juneau, where one of the highlights of the season is whale watching. And, thanks to Allen Marine ’s annual generosity, our whale watching cruise on June 2 was fantastic. Not only did the whales never cease to amaze us, but the friendliness, professionalism and knowledge of the Allen Marine staff, coupled with transfers and parking provided by First Student , made for a most memorable and affordable afternoon outing for folks of all ages. One summertime event you haven’t missed yet is our Whole Beast Feast ! Almost everyone loves a party, and those of us involved with the Bartlett Regional Hospital Foundation are no different. For years we’ve donned our dress-up clothes and headed to our annual gala, but as of last year, we now go to the Yacht Club in our casual clothes and have a thank-you for our donors instead. Mark your calendars now for Saturday, Aug. 25, for this year’s Whole Beast Feast . In addition to music and a silent auction, there will be pig! You’ll feast on pork— roasted with my family’s secret recipe—as well as beans, rice and desserts. The cost to attend this fun-filled event is your annual donation to Bartlett Regional Hospital Foundation. As a city-owned facility, Bartlett isn’t able to leverage funds afforded to research, university or for-profit hospitals. The money raised by the Foundation is one of the ways we provide resources to enhance and support quality health care at the hospital.
