Welcome! Nicholas Newbury, DO NEW PHYSICIAN It’s always exciting news when new physicians come to Southeast Alaska. Bartlett Regional Hospital is very pleased to introduce Nicholas D. Newbury, DO, to the community. Dr. Newbury will be joining the practice of Nell A. Wagoner, MD, later this summer. He will be practicing full-spectrum obstetrics and gynecology, offering care for normal to high-risk pregnancies, as well as full gynecologic care ranging from annual screenings to pelvic reconstructive surgery. Dr. Newbury is originally from Sumner, Washington, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Seattle Pacific University. He holds a doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University. He served as chief resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, and as adjunct clinical faculty for the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Great memories in Juneau Dr. Newbury first came to Juneau when he was 18 years old and fell in love with it then. He tells HouseCalls : “I also met my wife while working in Juneau; she was a deckhand on a charter fishing boat. I also proposed to my wife on the Mendenhall Glacier.” He worked as a charter boat captain for Anchor Point Lodge on Shelter Island for three years, and also worked as a charter boat captain out of Auke Bay for one summer. Excited to serve He is trained to do minimally invasive robotic pelvic surgery and has a special interest in osteopathic manipulative medicine, which he integrates into his obstetric care. Dr. Newbury and his wife have three children, ages 5, 3 and 1. “I am really excited to practice in Juneau and serve the communities of Southeast Alaska,” he tells us.
