You are not alone. “It takes teamwork,” says Diabetes Educator Cynthia Gordon-Nickerson, a registered nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator, Case Manager– Certified, at Bartlett Regional Hospital. “We have the tools, and we really want to share those. We want people to be healthy and know that it is possible to live an extremely healthy life with diabetes.” Being healthy with diabetes and reducing your risk of complications requires eating mindfully, exercising, monitoring your blood glucose levels and taking medication. Cynthia Gordon-Nickerson, RN, CDE, CMC, has been counseling patients with diabetes at Bartlett Regional Hospital for 13 years. She is the only certified diabetes educator in Juneau.
