Bartlett Regional | House Calls | Winter 2020

#PeopleofBRH Rose Lawhorne, Chief Nursing Officer I’ve been part of the Bartlett family for 23 years. Caring for patients is accomplished through caring for your staff and making sure that they are safe and they have a positive work environment. The people I work with have heart, passion, and a shared vision and mission for what quality patient care looks like. It’s making a difference where I live, where people have trust that when they come here, they’re going to receive good care by people who care. MEET MORE #PEOPLEOFBRH on the Bartlett Regional Hospital Facebook page. #PatientsofBRH Gary and Donna Thompson This letter is to let you know what a wonderful and amazing staff you have at Bartlett Regional Hospital. From the time we walked into the ER and were greeted by the receptionist, all the way to when my husband, Gary, was released three days later. The backstory is that we were on a cruise out of San Francisco, and our first stop was Juneau. During the couple of sea days, my husband complained of a continuing pain in his left side. As we made our way down the gangway, we decided to find an urgent care clinic. They suggested a trip to the ER. We walked in and immediately the receptionist on duty took his information and got the triage nurse to see him. From Cory the physician assistant to the nurse drawing his blood and taking his blood pressure to the radiologist, the care and continued information couldn’t have been better. Quite frankly, it was amazing! It was determined a few hours later that Gary would need to be hospitalized. I had no idea what was in store for me, and I was in the process of trying to call for an Uber back to the ship to pack our suitcases and clear the ship. The next thing I knew, the Port Authority was there to pick me up to take me back to the ship. This was all arranged by your staff unbeknownst to us. Once back at the hospital with everything off of the ship, Gary informed me that I would be staying at your Bartlett House. I had thought I would be sleeping in a chair in his room. We were then whisked up to the third floor, where Gary was taken to his room and Salud took me under her wing. Your security officer on duty helped me take my bags over to my room at the Bartlett House. In fact, I was escorted there each night as I left the hospital. Salud and her staff that first evening, Jane (the RN) and the CNAs, were friendly, efficient and caring. The staff over the next few days couldn’t have been better. I can’t remember everyone’s name, but Jessica and Angela were two of the day shift nurses that were so caring and helpful. The on-duty doctors during Gary’s stay were the best. Bottom line: Gary could NOT have gotten better care anywhere else. It’s safe to say the team at Bartlett Regional Hospital is AMAZING. Thank you for having such a wonderful and caring team. Sincerely, Donna Thompson www.bartletthospital.org 13
