14 HouseCalls Summer 2016 Lauree Morton, Vice President Nancy Davis, President Mary Borthwick, Secretary Meet the Members of the Bartlett Regional Hospital board of directors Bartlett Regional Hospital (BRH) is governed by a volunteer board of directors appointed by the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly. Board members serve three-year terms, and each member may serve up to three consecutive terms. Board meetings are open to the public and attended by an Assembly liaison. Although the City and Borough of Juneau owns the land and assets of the hospital, the hospital is an enterprise fund, empowering the board with the responsibility for the economic viability and oversight of medical and operational issues. Making sure the hospital is fiscally sound is an important part of maintaining quality health care services. The funds to operate Bartlett Regional Hospital come from patient services. The board of directors of Bartlett Regional Hospital is proud of the hospital’s record of service to Juneau and northern Southeast Alaska. President Nancy Davis, a retired registered nurse, was appointed to the board in 2011. She served as the chief of public health nursing for Alaska until 2005. She is active in numerous professional organizations, including the Alaska Professional Nurses Organization, Hospice and Homecare of Juneau, and the Alaska Public Health Association. Vice President Lauree Morton’s appointment to the Board began in 2011. She brings critical experience and skills in advocacy through her work as the executive director of the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and as the executive director of the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Secretary Mary Borthwick, a retired local math teacher, joined the Bartlett Regional Hospital board of directors in 2011. She has served on the boards of the Juneau League of Women Voters and the Juneau Symphony and is currently the President of the Juneau Symphony Foundation. She still coaches the MATHCOUNTS Competition teams at the middle school level.
