Forever in our hearts On Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 6:19 p.m., a medevac flight from Anchorage was scheduled to pick up a patient in Kake. It never arrived. Aboard were pilot Patrick Coyle, 63; paramedic Margaret Langston Allen, 43; and flight nurse Stacie Rae Morse, RN, 30. Stacie was pregnant with a daughter, due in April. The search was called off Thursday, Jan. 31, after debris identified from the plane was found near Kake. Along with her co-workers at Guardian Flight, Stacie is deeply mourned and missed by her colleagues at Bartlett Regional Hospital, where she worked as a nurse in the critical care unit and the emergency department. Her colleagues collaborated on the following remembrance. Stacie Rae Morse embodied nursing. She was fiercely passionate and skilled and had an exemplary art of reaching out to all people with kindness, compassion and holistic care. With her bright smile, quick laugh and positive attitude, she was a pleasure to work with. Stacie was one of the most capable, caring and smart nurses. She encouraged us to be better with her exceptional advice and support. Her service wasn’t about treating one specific thing. She was unyielding in her dedication to making people better in all areas. Stacie meant a great deal to many, not just as a co-worker but also as a friend. She worked hard at everything she did and never gave up—even coming into work after knee surgery in a full cast so the unit would not be short-staffed. She was loyal and determined— from her dedication at Bartlett Regional Hospital and Guardian Flight to her at-home projects and hobbies hatching geese, raising animals, hunting and fishing. The community and Bartlett are better off for having had Stacie in our lives. We mourn our colleague and friend, as well as Stacie’s sweet daughter, Delta Rae. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Guardian Flight team, the families and friends of Patrick Coyle and Margaret Langston Allen, and the family and loved ones of Stacie and Delta Rae. You are greatly missed, and we will carry you in our hearts forever. w w Nurses are the BEST. w w Dr. Taintor was EXCELLENT. w w Dr. Miller was great.
