In this issue, you will find exciting articles about our Critical Care Unit; the telemedicine connection they have to the intensivists at Providence Anchorage Hospital; and their Beacon Award for the expert, quality care they provide to our patients right here in Juneau. You’ll also learn about the first baby of the year (and decade!) and the boat/cradle built by Dr. Lindy Jones. This is the third year Dr. Jones has provided a hand-wrought mahogany- maple rocker boat—filled by Bartlett Beginnings with baby clothes, toys and other goodies—for the family of the first born of the year. My thanks to Dr. Jones for using his great woodworking talents. Other features cover our job- shadowing program for high school students, some healthy lifestyle topics and a chance to meet some of our key staff members.
